On June 18th 5 members of CASBA’s link group went to the Lickey Hills to do a walk with Spoz. He’s a former Poet Laureate of Birmingham and he is doing a series of walks called “Stroll and Scribble”.

We took a walk through the hills and saw some beautiful flowers, bees, butterflies and birds.

It was a nice gentle stroll although still difficult in parts as the ground is uneven and, as the name suggests, it has hills.

After the walk, we went to the schoolhouse and had a hot drink and biscuit while Spoz read us a poem he had written. I also had a chance to read a poem I had written. Spoz hopes to put our work in a book and have it published.

We had a chance to write a poem or story before leaving at the end of the session and some people chose to draw a picture of what they had seen.

These pictures can also go in the book

It was a really nice afternoon and I feel it was good for both our physical and mental health so I look forward to the next session.

Rita’s poem “Imagine” was an emotional highlight of our AGM last year:
