Our MP visits LINK 26 UP
By Kirsty Mulrine
It was a very exciting day. Members of Link 26 had the opportunity to ask Al several important questions. Topics included potholes, green bikes, e-bikes, and road safety laws. Al was very interested in hearing about the work Link 26 has been doing and took time to listen to everyone’s views and experiences.
Before his visit, Janet, LINK member and CASBA trustee and Sarah, our volunteer coordinator worked hard to write a letter for Al to take away with him. We also included the story of how I became Co-Chair and shared information about the recent updates made to the Link 26 leaflet.
It was clear that Al was impressed by the group’s achievements. He spoke positively to one of the staff members about my leadership skills as Co-Chair. The lady accompanying him also commented on how well I managed the session and kept the group running on time.
We talked to him about the importance of Easy Read. (upload film) We think everything should be in Easy Read and we told him why. Its our right to have our important information in Easy and its good for everybody as it makes information much more accessible. It’s good for people who don’t have much time too, people like Al.
We enjoyed hosting him at our group and we hope we will work together one day on creating new Easy Read documents.
