Deepika Nayyar - Chair
I began my career at the Big Lottery  Fund where I managed grants and assessed large funding applications. After seeing the innovative work charities were doing, I decided I wanted to be more directly involved and made the move into the charity sector. Having moved to Citizens Advice, my current role involves working on the implementation and delivery of a national government project.

I was part of the team which originally set up CASBA and I have served continuously on the Executive. I am South Birmingham Community NHS Trust Chaplain to people who happen to have a learning disability and am based at Saint Francis Church, Monyhull where I also work in the community. For many years I was secretary of BUild - the Baptist Union initiative with people with learning disabilities.  I have also written several articles on spirituality and learning disability.

I’ve been a Trustee of CASBA since 2013, but I’ve known the organisation for some 20 years now.  My background is in Accountancy so I’ve decided to move from the role as Chair of CASBA to Treasurer.  My interests are Architecture, Building Conservation, Walking, the Countryside, and I’ve recently joined a small Male Voice Choir.

I became a Trustee for CASBA after having been involved on the steering group for the From Institution to Community project about Monyhull Hospital. I work as an Occupational Therapist, so have a lot of experience in working with adults with Learning Disabilities and was keen to help this fantastic charity more.
