Description

We are looking for people with learning disabilities to join our Easy Read panels as Checkers.

To be a Checker you need to have a learning disability. You must be confident to speak up and be willing to share your expertise.

You need to be good at timekeeping and come to the meeting when you say you will.

You don’t 100% need to be able to read but you do need to be able to understand what makes good Easy Read. We provide training.

You need to be good at working as part of a team.
What does an Easy Read Checker do?

Works with others to check Easy Read and make it better.

If you see something is wrong you must say. You are the expert.

We take it turns to read out loud. If we hear or see anything wrong, we speak up.

If we disagree, we talk about it until
we agree.

We tell the Easy Read writer what
changes need to be made.

We love helping writers to make good
Easy Read and make it easier for
people to understand.
What does a Checker get paid?

The pay for this role is £12.60 per hour.

This job only happens when there is a
Panel. You might work once a month
or every week. A panel lasts 2 hours.

We tell you about new panels on the
WhatsApp group. If this is not possible
for you, we will find another way.

Make an ‘About Me’ to help new
people get to know you.

The closing date is Friday the 1st of August. Please apply by then.
