Freelance Opportunity: Inclusive Cooking Instructor Wanted

CASBA is seeking Expressions of Interest from cooks with experience delivering inclusive, accessible, and welcoming cooking classes for people with learning disabilities and other additional needs.

We have secured two years of funding to deliver 30 x three hour sessions each year, supporting 15 people a year to learn how to plan and cook healthy meals on a budget. We also hope to see participants grow in confidence, improve their health, and move into volunteering or work.

Co‑Produced With Our Community

This project was designed alongside the people who will attend the sessions. They told us they want:

  • To learn how to cook healthy food
  • A friendly, comfortable environment
  • A space where they see people like themselves
  • Kind, patient, understanding instructor who makes them feel safe and supported

Where Classes Will Be Delivered

Year 1:
Sessions will take place in a professional kitchen in Northfield, a fully accessible venue that aligns with CASBA’s commitment to inclusion.

Year 2:
We plan to expand into Hall Green or another area of South Birmingham. Experience delivering in Hall Green is therefore an advantage.

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome Expressions of Interest from instructors who can demonstrate:

  • A warm, encouraging teaching style
  • Experience adapting sessions for people with additional needs
  • A commitment to accessibility and inclusion
  • Professionalism and reliability
  • Able to actively contribute to measurement and evaluation as the project progresses

We would love to hear from you.
