Meet Our New LINK 18–25 Co Chair
We’re delighted to introduce Chantelle Orriss, our new LINK 18–25 Co‑Chair — and someone who quite literally spent her Christmas on stage. With a background in acting and a passion for connecting with young people, Chantelle brings creativity, confidence, and a whole lot of sparkle to her new role.
Over the festive season, she took on a four‑week tour across Scotland, performing as the lead character “Dick” in the pantomime Dick Whittington. Between theatre stages, school halls, and thousands of excited young faces, Chantelle’s time in pantoland was as meaningful as it was magical. Here’s her story.

A Month in Pantoland
“Hello from panto land everyone!”
That’s how Chantelle summed up her whirlwind month touring Scotland. Playing the lead role in Dick Whittington, she travelled far and wide, performing not only in theatres but also in 35 schools — plus one main theatre — reaching over 2,000 pupils.
For many of the children she met, this was their first ever experience of live theatre.
“If we weren’t on a theatre stage, we went into schools with low arts funding, allowing young people who may not get to see a theatre show to watch one for free. It was lovely seeing all the children and teachers having a really great time.”
And their reactions? Exactly what you’d hope for from a classic panto.
- Boos for the villain
- Laughs at Chantelle’s “funny dances”
- Total chaos during the water‑fight scene
- And the kind of heckles only children can deliver — including her favourite:
“You’re the coolest actor ever!”

Stepping Out of Her Comfort Zone
Taking on a lead role in a touring production is no small task. Chantelle learned over 100 lines in a single week, travelled constantly, and performed for huge groups of young people — many of whom were seeing theatre magic for the first time.
Was she scared? Absolutely.
Did she let that stop her? Not a chance.
“It showed me that I can learn something quickly if I apply myself. It proved that no matter how scared I get, I can do hard things.”
After each show, Chantelle spoke with students who were curious about acting and theatre careers. Many told her they wanted to work in the arts too — a reminder of how powerful representation and encouragement can be.
Bringing That Energy to LINK 18–25
Chantelle’s experience in pantoland wasn’t just a performance milestone — it’s something she’s bringing directly into her role as Co‑Chair.
Her month on tour strengthened her confidence, pushed her beyond her comfort zone, and reminded her of the importance of being a positive role model for young people.
“It will make me a better co‑chair as it has made me confident in myself and proved that no matter how scared I get, I can do hard things.”
We’re thrilled to have Chantelle join the LINK 18–25 team, and we can’t wait to see how her creativity, resilience, and passion for young people shape the work ahead.
