Freelance Advocate

CASBA is looking for a Freelance Advocate to join our team and support adults with learning disabilities to have their voices heard, their rights upheld, and their choices respected.

Hours: Sessional depending on demand
Salary: £15.48 – £17.48 per hour depending on experience
Contract type: Freelance
Place of work: South Birmingham

💬 About the Role

As a Freelance Advocate, you will:

  • Provide independent, person centred advocacy to adults with learning disabilities
  • Support people to understand their rights and express their wishes
  • Attend meetings, reviews, and appointments alongside the person
  • Help people navigate services, systems, and decision making processes
  • Keep clear, accurate records of your work
  • Work flexibly, professionally, and in line with CASBA’s values

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about empowering people, confident communicating with a wide range of professionals, and skilled at building trust.

💡 About You

We would love to hear from you if you:

  • Have experience of working with people with learning disabilities
  • Understand advocacy principles (or are keen to learn)
  • Are kind, patient, and a good listener
  • Can explain information clearly and simply
  • Are confident working independently
  • Can travel within South Birmingham
  • Are reliable, organised, and committed to inclusion

Experience in statutory or non‑statutory advocacy is welcome, but not essential — the right values matter most.
