Alongside the existing LINK 18-25 group, young people from Square Routes have already joined the group. So far they have created cardboard vases and acrylic panel painting. Both groups have worked hard during these sessions and it’s great to see them interacting with each other. At the end of the most recent session, we had time to play a few games, and it enabled the group to get to know each other better.

The next sessions will explore a range of new artistic techniques, including, abstract self-portrait, lino printing and making and painting clay pots.

• The “I Can” project is a 6 week project which is running as part of the LINK 18-26 Self Advocacy Group.

At the end of the 6 weeks we’ll have an exhibition to showcase your art to the public. We will celebrate your achievements!

Once the art sessions have finished, the group will return Sense Touchbase Pears, where the focus will move towards employability. Sessions will cover areas such as CV writing and building confidence with interview skills.

The LINK 18-25 group is slowly growing and has gone from 2 regular members to now welcoming 11 young people in total.
It had been wonderful to watch the groups’ confidence increase and how they have worked together.
The ‘I Can’ Project is a great example of how creativity, collaboration and self-advocacy can provide young people with opportunities to develop new skills, build confidence and achieve their goals.
